No. 1 Lady Owls golf team picks up 13th straight AMC title

Mansour wins second consecutive individual championship

EUGENE, Mo. — The No. 1-ranked William Woods University Lady Owls golf team made another convincing case in making sure the American Midwest Conference championship remained in its possession.

Sophomore Celia Mansour shot an even-par 144 (71-73) to lock up the individual championship for the second year in a row as William Woods easily marched to its 13th straight AMC title Tuesday with a 12-over 588 total (295-293) at Redfield Golf Course.

The Lady Owls triumphed by an impressive 48 strokes as Freed-Hardeman (Tennessee) University came in a distant second with a 636 (324-312). Columbia College finished third with a 678 (337-341).

William Woods clinched the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA national championship May 17-20 at Savannah (Georgia) Quarters Country Club.

Mansour — named AMC player of the year — headed up a pack of Lady Owls that secured the top five spots on the conference’s individual leaderboard. Senior Jodie Peacock came in second with a 147 (74-73), while fellow senior Myriam Hassan was third with a 149 (76-73).

Sophomores Andrea Agniel (74-76) and Katie Warren (78-74) were fourth and fifth, respectively, with a 150 and 152.

Mansour was joined on the all-AMC team by Peacock, Hassan, Agniel, Warren, senior Alejandra Ferrer and sophomore Megan Cullen. Sophomore Alex Bankovich earned honorable-mention honors.
