Darrin Smithee, 50, was arrested about 4 a.m. Sunday by Callaway County Sheriff’s officials, according to Lt. Clay Chism. He was charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree domestic assault.

Because Smithee was under the supervision of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole on charges of violating an order of protection at the time of his arrest, he was placed in the custody of the state Department of Corrections for violating his parole.

Smithee was arrested in connection with an April 20 residential burglary in the 1800 block of Mandy Court near Hatton in northern Callaway County. Chism said in a press release the suspect entered a residence, assaulted a subject there with whom he had a previous relationship, and fled the scene with stolen articles. He was located at a residence Sunday near Auxvasse and arrested without incident.

The investigation is ongoing, Chism stated.
