MU softball tops Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Amanda Sanchez hit a walk-off single to left field in the eighth inning of Saturday’s 7-6 win for the Missouri Tigers against Texas A&M at University Field.

Missouri loaded the bases with no outs in the eight inning thanks to back-to-back- singles for Taylor Gadbois and Emily Crane and an intentional walk to Sami Fagan.

Sanchez drove in Gadbois for the winning run, sealing the Tigers’ third straight victory.

The Aggies tied the game a 6 in the sixth on Kristen Cuyos’ solo home run.

Fagan had three hits and two RBI, including a two-run home run in the fourth. Gadbois also had three hits.

Paige Lowary (17-6) went all eight innings in the circle for Missouri, allowing six runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out six.

Samantha Show (20-8) took the loss for the Aggies, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and five walks while striking out three in four innings.

Missouri is 32-12 overall while the Aggies are 33-12. The Tigers are one game better than the Aggies in the Southeastern Conference with a 7-9 mark.

Game 2 of the series is set for 6 p.m. today.
