MU baseball falls to South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Jake Ring RBI single was all the Missouri baseball team could muster Saturday, losing 5-1 to No. 11 South Carolina to extend the Tigers’ losing streak to six games.

Gamecocks starting pitcher Braden Webb (8-2) struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. He allowed just one run on four hits and six walks.

Ring had half of Missouri’s four hits.

Missouri starter Tanner Houck (4-4) was the losing pitcher, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings.

South Carolina scored two unearned runs off Cole Bartlett, who allowed two hits and struck out one in two innings.

The Gamecocks scored twice in the first and seventh innings and a single run in the third.

Missouri is 20-20 overall and 4-13 in the Southeastern Conference. South Carolina is 32-8 overall and 13-4 in the SEC.

The Tigers will try to avoid their second straight sweep to an SEC team when they play the Gamecocks at 12:30 p.m. today.
