Campbell is a junior from Russellville and is majoring in communications, with a concentration in public relations, and is also minoring in coaching.

The award is the William Woods athletic department’s highest honor and is named after Stephens, the school’s own Olympic champion. The honor is presented annually to an outstanding junior student-athlete who has achieved excellence both in the classroom and in the area of intercollegiate athletics, and has demonstrated the talent, discipline and desire that best describes Stephens’ legacy.

“Hannah is an exceptional young lady that demonstrates the athleticism and character that embodies Helen Stephens’ legacy,” William Woods head softball coach Tracy Gastineau said. “On the softball field, Hannah is known for her competitiveness and speed, which are also similarities to what Helen Stephens was known for on the track.

“This is a fitting and deserving award for Hannah, and William Woods is proud to call both of them our own.”

Campbell was named an all-American Midwest Conference academic selection and NFCA All-America scholar-athlete in 2014 and 2015. She was also chosen as a CoSIDA academic all-district pick in 2015.

On the playing field, Campbell was a first-team all-AMC selection and is fourth in team history with 76 steals.

Campbell is also a member of the President’s Twenty, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Campus Activities Board and was also part of the 2013-14 Kindness Connection Club.
