AARP driver safety course April 28 in Fulton

Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads you travel every day. Some drivers age 50-plus have never looked back since they got their first driver’s license, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills.

By taking a driver safety course you’ll learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You’ll review, and take home, the award-winning AARP Smart Driver 124 page Guidebook and learn how you can manage and accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. After completing the course, you will have a greater appreciation of driving challenges and a better understanding of how to avoid potential collisions, which could injure yourself or others.

The AARP Smart Driver Course, offered by AARP Driver Safety, is the nation’s largest classroom and online driver safety course designed especially for drivers 50 and older available nationwide in classroom and online settings. People who attend the course, or take it online, receive a certificate good for three years, which could entitle them to a reduction in their auto insurance premiums (consult your insurance agent for details for your insurance plan).

Thursday, April 28, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. the AARP Driver Safety course will be conducted at the Fulton City Hall auditorium, 18 E. 4th St. AARP membership is not required to take the course, and there are no tests to pass. Participants should bring their AARP card, driver’s license, their own snacks, water/coffee, & light jacket/sweater. The classroom course costs only $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers.
