South Callaway boys finish fifth at Versailles Invitational

VERSAILLES, Mo. - Freshman Wyatt Hager took second place in the pole vault at 10 feet, 6 inches as the Bulldogs came in fifth as a team at the Versailles Invitational on Thursday night.

In the girls' division, sophomore Adrian Mann was victorious in the 300-meter hurdles (51.53 seconds) and finished third in the 200 (:29.33) as the Lady Bulldogs tied for sixth place.

Sophomore Hunter Schroer also came in fourth in the discus with a toss of 114-5 as the South Callaway boys totalled 59 points. Sophomore Landon Horstman took fourth in the triple jump (38-8), sophomore Kaden Helsel finished fourth in the long jump (17-2 1/2), and senior Brandon Ward tied for fourth in the high jump (5-6).

The Bulldogs' 800 relay of Helsel, junior Andrew Buckner, sophomore Austin Meyer and Ward came in third in 1:40.68. The 400 relay of freshman Peyton Leeper, Buckner, sophomore Dalton Stone and Helsel placed fourth in :47.97.

Sophomore Ashley Potter finished second in the 100 (:13.62) and sophomore Kaci Jordan took second in the triple jump (31-8) as the South Callaway girls shared sixth place with Iberia with 52 points apiece.

Freshman Mattie Hampton came in fourth in the 100 hurdles (:18.69), while the 800 relay of Potter, Jordan, junior Josie Mealy and Mann placed third in 2:00.09. The 400 relay of Potter, Jordan, junior Haley Walters and Mann finished fourth in :56.62.

Eldon locked up the boys' team championship with 186 points and Clinton captured the girls' title with 161.

South Callaway competed at the Northwest Lions Invitational on Saturday. Results were not immediately available.
