William Woods University hosted its Fall Family Weekend this past Friday and Saturday. Seventy-five to 100 families were expected to participate in the festivities.

The weekend started Friday at noon with a golf scramble benefit which was hosted by Williams Woods Golf Coach Barry Doty. All proceeds will go to benefit the school's men's and women's golf teams. Friday evening an informal social event was held for families, faculty and staff on the terrace between the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts and Dulany Auditorium.

The Cox Art Gallery was open throughout the weekend for parents and students to view the exhibit featuring artists Jennifer Wiggs and Chris Teeter, and William Woods thespians staged "The 39 Steps." The Equestrian Complex Open House on Saturday morning allowed visitors to watch equestrian students free ride until noon.

Three new events awaited families this year. The welcome social on Friday night. A dock party at Junior Lake on Saturday afternoon, which offered a bar- becue buffet, music, cash bar and lawn games. Vendors from the Brick District had booths selling local merchandise. The weekend wrapped up Saturday night with a new Pub Crawl. Archie's Bar & Grill, the Post Office Bar & Grill and Killabrews Pub all participated.

Beth Oseroff, graduate student with Career Services, wrote in a recent press release that many of the events were co-sponsored by student groups. "I really think they will be (events) both students and their friends and families will be able to enjoy together."

According to Abigail Anderson with the Parents' Association, organizers were hopeful that parents would attend the events and learn how to become involved with the school. "It might help parents who recently had to drop off their freshmen and who might have been a bit unnerved by that experience."
