Lady Bulldogs softball team shut out in SMC loss to Eugene

MOKANE - The South Callaway Lady Bulldogs softball team managed just three hits in Tuesday night's 4-0 Show-Me Conference loss to the Eugene Lady Eagles.

Junior starter Konnor Arrowood, senior catcher Kennedy Farley and senior third baseman Ashley Miller each singled for South Callaway (10-7, 2-2 SMC). Eugene scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Arrowood suffered the complete-game loss despite allowing only three hits, striking out 10 and walking none. Just one of Eugene's four runs was earned.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped the junior varsity game 2-1.

On Monday night at Harrisburg, South Callaway rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a dramatic 6-5 victory.

Senior left fielder Cheyenne Witt finished 3-for-3 with a run scored as the Lady Bulldogs totalled nine hits. Arrowood - playing third base - was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored twice, while junior shortstop Nicole Horstman also went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Miller went the distance to collect the win, giving up five runs - three earned - on six hits. She recorded eight strikeouts and issued a walk.

South Callaway bowed in the junior varsity game 10-7.

The Lady Bulldogs go to New Bloomfield for an SMC encounter at 5 p.m. Thursday.
