Owls cross country team finishes sixth at meet

EUREKA - Freshman Alex Thompson took 16th individually in 28 minutes, 38.79 seconds as the William Woods University Owls cross country team came in sixth at the Maryville University Six Flags Open on Saturday.

Also placing for William Woods University were sophomore Kyle Gabrielson (20th, 28:44.34), freshman Jamie Porter (57th, 31:03.79), sophomore Zach Glassmaker (58th, 31:03.92), freshman Xavier Hall (60th, 31:07.42), and senior Tyler Jones (73rd, 33:42.51).

William Woods did not field a full team in the women's division. Sophomore Jami Brandow placed 35th in 21:43.59, followed closely by sophomore Grace Young (36th, 21:43.65), sophomore Hannah Rutherford (37th, 21:43.67), and senior Samantha Brolaski (38th, 21:43.72).

The Owls and Lady Owls don't compete again until the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Fayetteville, Ark.
