McNamara, Lady Owls soccer team stop skid

BETHANY, Okla. - Senior midfielder Jordan McNamara's goal in the 29th minute broke a 1-all tie as the William Woods University Lady Owls soccer team stopped a two-match losing streak with Saturday's 3-1 non-conference triumph over Southwestern Christian University.

William Woods (2-4-1) scored quickly on sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Zilch's goal in the 4th minute, off an assist from McNamara. The Lady Eagles (4-2) pulled even on Jill Owens' unassisted goal in the 16th minute, but the Lady Owls went in front to stay when McNamara scored off freshman defender Shelby Scanlan's assist.

Junior defender Renee Meyer's goal in the 83rd minute - on McNamara's second assist - helped seal the win for William Woods. The Lady Owls built a 16-8 advantage in overall shots, including 10-2 in shots on goal, and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Parisi and freshman backup Rebecca Sturgess combined to make one save for William Woods.

The Lady Owls jump back into American Midwest Conference action when they play at St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 7 tonight.
