Lady Blue Jays volleyball team sweeps SLIAC matches

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays volleyball team improved to 8-5 on the season and 4-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after downing Eureka College (25-15, 25-19, 25-11) and host MacMurray College (25-23, 25-22, 25-13) on Saturday.

Junior setter Kayla Reeg recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 16 digs to guide Westminster in the Eureka win. Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Marshall logged a game-high 12 kills and junior middle hitter Amanda Kiso chipped in with eight.

Freshman libero Bridget Ringwald finished with a game-high 18 digs for the Lady Blue Jays and freshman outside hitter Micha Frasher followed with 11.

Frasher then produced a double-double with a game-high 12 kills and 12 digs to spur Westminster in the MacMurray victory. Marshall added 11 kills, while Ringwald had 14 digs. Reeg also came up with 14 digs and provided 37 assists to surpass 2,500 in her career with the Lady Blue Jays.

Westminster was coming off a split in its matches at the Millikin College Fall Frenzy on Friday night in Decatur, Ill. The Lady Blue Jays battled past Rose-Hulman 25-18, 25-27, 25-22, 21-25 and 16-14, before being swept by Millikin 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.

Marshall topped Westminster with 21 kills in the win over Rose-Hulman, while Reeg supplied 46 assists and Ringwald contributed 27 digs.

Marshall had a team-high nine kills in the loss to Millikin, while Reeg came up with 17 assists and nine digs.

The Lady Blue Jays travel to Eureka (Ill.) for a SLIAC rematch at 7 tonight.
