The Fulton Sun announces the appointment of Shawna Bethell to its team as a staff reporter. Bethell joins existing Sun staff reporters Taylor Malottki and Jessica Stone.

Bethell has 18 years of writing experience, beginning her career at the Community Voice in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Colorado where she was a staff writer for the Silverton Standard for two years.

From the Standard she began freelancing, and wrote for several regional magazines and newspapers across the southwest including the Durango Telegraph, where she was a stringer for eight years. In 2014, she was named a Colorado Voices Columnist for the Denver Post for her op-eds concerning wilderness and social issues facing the San Juan Mountain region.

Bethell decided to relocate to Fulton where she has family. "When I saw the ad for a reporter position at the Fulton Sun, it seemed like a great fit," said Bethell. "I'm glad to be here and be part of the community."
