Lady Blue Jays volleyball team logs first SLIAC win

The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays volleyball team broke into the win column in SLIAC play after sweeping the Blackburn (Ill.) College Lady Beavers 25-12, 25-16 and 25-23 in Wednesday night's home opener.

Westminster halted a two-match losing streak in raising its season mark to 5-4 and squaring its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record at 2-2.

Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Marshall sparked the Lady Blue Jays with 13 kills and junior setter Kayla Reeg tallied 34 assists. Senior libero Caroline Will, freshman defensive specialist Bridget Ringwald and freshman outside hitter Nikki Testerman finished with nine digs apiece.

Westminster plays Rose-Hulman (6 p.m.) and host Millikin (Ill.) College (8 p.m.) at the Millikin Fall Frenzy tonight. The Lady Blue Jays then travel to Jacksonville, Ill., on Saturday for SLIAC matches against Eureka College (11 a.m.) and MacMurray College (1 p.m.).
