The Fulton Fire Department received a call early Monday afternoon concerning a house fire at 309 West 14th St.

Fire Captain Carl Stassel received a call about a structure fire that originated on the front porch and spread in towards the living room. Five people were inside the home when the fire started, including two adults and three children, but they were able to leave the house without incurring injuries.

Three fire trucks responded to the call and the Ambulance District provided mutual aid for safety concerns, Stassel said. The responders were able to put out the fire in less than 15 minutes.

The house received extensive damage, and Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt believes there was approximately $30,000 worth in damages. The cause of the fire is not confirmed, but during the investigation Fire Marshals determined the cause was most likely a lit cigarette that had been left on the front porch.

The occupants of the house declined to comment at the time.
