Miller, Lady Bulldogs softball team pound New Haven

NEW HAVEN - Senior starter Ashley Miller tossed a four-hitter and also had three hits and drove in four runs in the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs softball team's 16-4, five-inning romp over New Haven on Monday night.

South Callaway (7-6) manufactured a run in the top of the first, then piled on a pair of six-run outbursts in the second and third, before tallying its final three runs in the fifth. New Haven put up two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth.

Miller worked a complete game to post the win, allowing four runs - two earned - while striking out six and issuing a walk.

She gave herself some offensive support by going 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice to power the Lady Bulldogs' 17-hit attack. Junior second baseman Josie Mealy finished 2-for-3, while junior shortstop Nicole Horstman, junior third baseman Konnor Arrowood and senior left fielder Cheyenne Witt were each 2-for-4.

South Callaway hosts Fayette in a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. today.
