Central Methodist trips Owls soccer team in OT

FAYETTE - The William Woods University Owls soccer team suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Central Methodist University Eagles when Gareth James broke through with a goal in the first overtime Wednesday night.

William Woods University, which had won two straight, dropped back to the .500 mark at 2-2. Central Methodist University improved its season mark to 3-0-1.

"Factors in the game did not go our way and I'm very proud of the team's effort tonight," Owls head coach Nathan Mason said. "I believe we stuck together and deserved more from the game, but we were positive in our play.

"Central Methodist has a great team and this game tonight really helped us prepare for AMC play ..."

William Woods travels to Park University for its American Midwest Conference opener at 2 p.m. Saturday.
