FAYETTE - The William Woods University Owls soccer team suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Central Methodist University Eagles when Gareth James broke through with a goal in the first overtime Wednesday night.
William Woods University, which had won two straight, dropped back to the .500 mark at 2-2. Central Methodist University improved its season mark to 3-0-1.
"Factors in the game did not go our way and I'm very proud of the team's effort tonight," Owls head coach Nathan Mason said. "I believe we stuck together and deserved more from the game, but we were positive in our play.
"Central Methodist has a great team and this game tonight really helped us prepare for AMC play ..."
William Woods travels to Park University for its American Midwest Conference opener at 2 p.m. Saturday.
