Skogsberg's victory directs Lady Blue Jays cross country team to title

ELSAH, Ill. - Senior Brier Skogsberg won her first collegiate race Friday night to spur the Westminster College Lady Blue Jays cross country team to the championship at the Principia Invitational.

Skogsberg prevailed with a time of 16 minutes, 15.72 seconds as Westminster College compiled 32 points. Sophomore Taylor Howard - a South Callaway graduate - was next in fourth place for the Lady Blue Jays in 16:45.66, while freshman Jessica Kuykendall took fifth in 16:48.64.

Sophomore Madison Zack placed 13th in 19:03.98 and freshman Cora Pantierre finished 26th in 25:11.41.

In the men's division, senior Jesse Edwards led Westminster by taking sixth in 20:40.34. The Blue Jays did not field a full team.

Junior Glenn Teubner came in eighth in 21:11.76, senior Will Megl was 15th in 22:37.84 and sophomore Nathan Wilson placed 19th in 23:22.83.

Both Westminster teams run in the Saint Louis University Invitational at 5 p.m. Friday.
