Kirksville upends Lady Hornets softball team

KIRKSVILLE - The Fulton Lady Hornets softball team slipped to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the North Central Missouri Conference after Thursday night's 7-2 loss to the Kirksville Lady Tigers.

Fulton - which totalled 10 hits - plated both of its runs in the top of the third inning. Kirksville scored two runs apiece in the first and second, one in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Freshman third baseman Makenzie Johnson went 3-for-3 with a run batted in and junior catcher Hannah Sparks finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Hornets.

Sophomore starter Kendalyn Roesner went the distance in taking the loss for Fulton. Roesner gave up seven runs - three earned - on nine hits, struck out five and issued three walks.

The Lady Hornets continue NCMC play at home against Moberly at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
