Ladybirds softball team whips Wright City

WRIGHT CITY - Senior first baseman Madison Ausfahl had four hits and knocked in three runs Tuesday night as the North Callaway Ladybirds softball team remained unbeaten with its 11-3 Eastern Missouri Conference rout of Wright City.

North Callaway (4-0, 2-0 EMO) manufactured two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, two in the fifth and three more in the sixth. The loss dropped Wright City to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

Ausfahl went 4-for-4 with a double and scored twice as the Ladybirds logged nine hits. Senior right fielder Patri Eckert finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, while senior second baseman Karlie Popp was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and scored three times.

Junior starter Taylor Wilson went the distance to raise her season record to 2-0 for North Callaway. Wilson gave up three runs - two earned - on six hits, struck out three and issued two walks.

The Ladybirds (3-0-1) breezed to a 20-1 victory in three innings in the junior varsity game.

North Callaway hosts Rock Bridge at 5 p.m. today.
