Lady Hornets volleyball team stumbles at Blair Oaks

WARDSVILLE - The Fulton Lady Hornets volleyball team was unable to match Blair Oaks' sizzling tempo in suffering its first loss of the season Tuesday night in a 25-13, 25-12 setback.

Sophomore outside hitter Kate Pani led Fulton (2-1) with four kills. Lady Hornets head coach Megan Youse also commended the defensive efforts of senior libero Amanda Allison and senior outside hitter Maddie Dreste.

"Our girls did a nice job of staying mentally tough," Youse said. "Blair Oaks has a really strong volleyball tradition and a super-strong, quick offense."

Fulton (2-1) dropped the junior varsity match 25-14 and 25-9. Junior setter Colleen Van Norman finished with three kills and two aces.

The Lady Hornets (1-1-1) lost the freshman contest 25-5 and 25-2.

Fulton hosts Eugene in a varsity-junior varsity doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.
