WRIGHT CITY - Freshman quarterback Garrett Dodge was responsible for the North Callaway Thunderbirds junior varsity's lone score in Monday night's loss to Wright City (1-1).
North Callaway (0-2) avoided the shutout when Dodge darted 39 yards for a touchdown with 9 minutes, 48 seconds left in the game. Dodge then connected with freshman tight end Carson Poe for the two-point conversion.
Dodge rushed for a team-high 62 yards on 12 carries. He was also 10-of-19 passing for 46 yards and an interception.
The Thunderbirds host Montgomery County at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.
