Lady Owls soccer team wins seventh match in row

The William Woods University Lady Owls soccer team continued its strong surge to close out the regular season.

Senior midfielders Jordan McNamara and Halle Schroeder both delivered hat tricks Wednesday afternoon to power William Woods to its seventh straight victory, a 10-0 AMC romp over Central Baptist (Ark.) College at Firley Field.

The hat trick was the second in a row for McNamara, who also had three goals in the Lady Owls' 6-0 American Midwest Conference win over Stephens College in Columba last Friday. McNamara's goals Wednesday came in the 1st, 15th and 85th minutes.

McNamara - who was named AMC offensive player of the week Monday - now has a team-high 16 goals on the season.

Schroeder scored Wednesday in the 3rd, 12th and 79th minutes as William Woods raised its season record to 10-6-2 and its AMC mark to 8-3-1. Schroeder also had three assists.

Junior defender Renee Meyer added two goals (14th, 88th minutes) for the Lady Owls, while sophomore midfielder Elyssa Cappaert (2nd) and freshman midfielder Shelby Wiebe (43rd) each scored one.

William Woods outshot Central Baptist (1-14-1, 1-8-1 AMC) by a decisive 39-1 margin, which featured a commanding 24-1 edge in shots on goal. The Lady Owls also owned a 16-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Ashley Parisi and freshman backup Rebecca Sturgess - who posted one save - shared the shutout for William Woods.
