Hines, Centralia shut down Ladybirds in District 11 title game

CENTRALIA - The North Callaway Ladybirds softball team was baffled again by Centralia pitcher Kaili Hines.

Hines threw a one-hitter and struck out 15 as top-seeded Centralia (22-3) blanked No. 2 North Callaway 3-0 in the championship of the Class 2, District 11 Tournament on Saturday.

Hines also struck out 12 in the Lady Panthers' 10-1 romp over the Ladybirds on Sept. 26 in the title game of the Centralia Tournament.

North Callaway's only hit Saturday came on senior starter Madison Ausfahl's single in the fifth inning. The Ladybirds ended the season with an 18-8 record.

Ausfahl (9-4) threw a complete game in suffering the loss, giving up three earned runs on just four hits. She struck out four and issued a walk.

"The girls never quit and we had a great season," North Callaway head coach Brandi Thomsen said.
