Columbia man in custody following chase in Callaway County

A Columbia man was taken into custody early Thursday morning following a chase with Callaway County authorities.

According to Callaway County Sheriff's Department reports, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop Bradly David, 47, on U.S.54 near U.S.63 in north Jefferson City for a traffic violation.

David failed to stop and the deputy pursued David's vehicle into Cole County and then back into Callaway County along 54 and Missouri 94. During the pursuit, the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed and ultimately traveled onto a private driveway off 94 where David jumped from the moving vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle subsequently impacted a tree.

The deputy pursued David on foot and he was taken in custody.

It was later discovered that David had several Boone County felony warrants for his arrest on charges of drug trafficking, unlawful use of a firearm and narcotic possessions.

A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine.

As of Friday, David was in the Boone County Jail with charges from Callaway County pending for felony resisting arrest, speeding, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving while revoked, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a weapon.
