Lady Wildcats, Lady Bulldogs reach District 10 semifinals

LINN - The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats softball team blistered Belle and set up a battle with defending Class 2 state champion Fatima.

Senior starter Madison Love threw a two-hitter and did her part at the plate by driving in six runs as No. 4 seed New Bloomfield demolished No. 5 Belle 17-0 in three innings in the first round of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament on Wednesday.

The Lady Wildcats (17-7) piled up 11 runs in the first inning and tacked on six more in the second to roll to the decisive victory. New Bloomfield finished with 10 hits.

"We hit the ball extremely well - solid line drives," Lady Wildcats head coach Dara Reinkemeyer said.

Love struck out seven and walked none to post the win. She just missed hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-3 with a single, double, triple and run scored.

Sophomore shortstop Madi Craighead was also 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and scored three times for New Bloomfield, while junior left fielder Baylee Garrett finished 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Junior third baseman Kate Baxter went 2-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored, and freshman center fielder Haley Berhorst finished 0-for-1 but had two RBI and scored twice.

The Lady Wildcats now move on to a semifinal matchup against top-seeded Fatima at 4:30 this afternoon. New Bloomfield was shut out by the Lady Comets 2-0 in Show-Me Conference play at Westphalia on Sept. 15.

LINN - Junior starter Konnor Arrowood threw a one-hitter and also hit a solo home run in the No. 3 seed Lady Bulldogs' first-round victory over the No. 6 Lady Bearcats at the Class 2, District 10 Tournament on Wednesday night.

South Callaway (17-9) tallied a run in the first inning, added three more in the fifth and scored its final run in the sixth.

Arrowood struck out nine and walked none in her complete-game effort. She hit her home run in the fifth.

Senior left fielder Cheyenne Witt went 2-for-3 as the Lady Bulldogs were limited to five hits.

South Callaway advances to face No. 2 seed Linn in the semifinals at 6 tonight. The Lady Bulldogs lost at Linn 3-2 in a Show-Me Conference game Sept. 11.
