Lady Bulldogs softball team upends Tolton

MOKANE - The South Callaway Lady Bulldogs softball team came up with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to close out the regular season by tripping the Father Tolton Lady Trailblazers 9-7 on Monday night.

South Callaway (16-9) tallied four runs in the first, one in the second and two in the third. Tolton answered with three runs apiece in the fourth and fifth, then plated a run in the sixth to tie the game at 7-all and force extra innings.

Junior shortstop Nicole Horstman went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored as the Lady Bulldogs collected nine hits. Senior catcher Kennedy Farley also finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Junior Konnor Arrowood threw four innings in relief of senior starter Ashley Miller to post the victory for South Callaway. Arrowood allowed an unearned run on two hits, struck out six and walked one. Miller gave up six runs - three earned - on four hits over three innings, had two strikeouts and issued two walks.

The No. 3 seed Lady Bulldogs square off against No. 6 Hermann at 6 tonight in the first round of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament in Linn.
