Mayor LeRoy Benton presents John Bell and Gayla Dunn with a check for the new Brick District Playhouse Friday. The check, which was written out for $5,062, was the generated from the annual Mayor's Cup golf tournament. The plan is to use the playhouse as a venue for concerts, comedy acts and theatrical productions. A café will open in front at the beginning of October.
