Fulton schools receive 30K gift, discuss new logo for high school

Fulton Schools received a special gift at Wednesday night's school board meeting. Diane Burre Ludwig, executive director of the Fulton Public Schools Foundation, presented a check for $30,000 to the district.

The funds are earmarked for the purchase of a sound system, projector and screen to be installed in the Fulton High School Commons.

The FHS Commons is used district-wide for staff professional development and many school and community related activities. "Securing an integrated permanent system will be a positive upgrade to this facility and continue to be accessible by all staff and the community," according to a report from the district.

Total costs are estimated at $31,307, which includes installation.

During the presentation of the gift to the Fulton Public School Board Wednesday evening, Ludwig said, "It is very exciting to be able to take on a project this large and know that our FHS alumni had such a big part in making it happen. We are very proud of the classes of 1950, 1964 and 1965 and their generous giving spirits."

Another issue addressed during the evening was that of the Fulton High School's hornet logo.

Concerns surrounding copyright laws have pushed the administration to consider the creation of a district owned and managed logo. Wednesday night the board approved

a contest to be held within the district designing a new Fulton Hornet. Complete contest details are to be announced at a later date.

Other presentations during the meeting included that of Karen Snethen, director of professional development and school and community programs, reviewing the current status of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, a Parents as Teachers report and the annual Library and Media Services report.
