A rollover accident on U.S. Highway 54 north of Fulton Tuesday afternoon injured two people, according to Fulton police.
Fulton police, Fulton firefighters and Callaway ambulances responded to the call at about 3:45 p.m. When responders arrived, they found a pickup truck that was heading east on U.S. Highway 54 that had rolled over several times and stopped in the westbound lanes.
Police said the pickup collided with a tractor trailer that was traveling east on the highway. The driver of the pickup was ejected from the vehicle and was transported by helicopter to University Hospital. A fire crew extricated the passenger who was trapped under wreckage from the pickup, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. Police do not know the extent of their injuries at this time.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Fulton emergency responders.
