New Bloomfield man faces 18 years for child sex crimes

A New Bloomfield will spend 18 years behind bars for multiple child sex crimes, according to Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Wilson.

On Monday, Robert Pope, 31, pleaded guilty in court to three counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and one count of enticement of a child.

Pope admitted to sexually abusing two children between 2010 - 14. He also confessed to soliciting other sex acts between 2010 - 15 from the child victim, who was under the age of 15.

Missouri court case files indicate that Pope initially faced 12 counts of child sex crimes before the state dropped the other eight charges. Court files also mention that one victim was under the age of 12 and another was under the age of 14.

Pope will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

The investigation in Callaway County lead to similar charges being filed against Pope in Morgan County that involved the same victims.

Pope faces two more pending charges of first-degree sodomy in Morgan County. His court date for those charges is scheduled for Dec. 15., according to Missouri court documents.
