Callaway County United Way set for 71K donation from Ameren

Callaway County's United Way chapter is scheduled to receive a large donation from Ameren Missouri employees.

Ameren has made it a goal to donate $50 million to the United Way of Greater St. Louis and for 2015 the company's employees pledged $1.8 million, according to a press release. More than 50 chapters of United Way in Missouri and Illinois are scheduled to receive a portion of that pledge.

Callaway County's chapter will receive more than $71,600 from the employees of the company, Ameren's Communication Executive Jeff Trammel said.

Ameren records show that the company made a $50 million pledge back in 1971 and in the last 44 years has donated cumulatively more than $49.5 million, according to the release. However, Ameren has been pledging to United Way before records show, Communications Specialist at Ameren Brianne Vaught said.

"We are grateful to Ameren for their tremendous ongoing support," Sue McCollum said in the release. McCollum is United Way's 2015 campaign co-chair and chairman and CEO of Major Brands, Inc.

"The generosity of individuals and corporations like Ameren allows United Way to invest more than $1 million into our region each week to help one in three people create a solid foundation for a good quality of life."
