Holts Summit, New Bloomfield fire crews contain residential structure fire

The Holts Summit Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire Wednesday afternoon that caused damage.

When fire crews arrived to the single-family home in the 11000 block of Morfin Drive shortly after 1 p.m., they saw smoke and flames coming from the eaves of the residence.

Holts Summit fire personnel called the New Bloomfield Fire Department for mutual aid support to contain the fire.

The occupants of the residence told fire personnel that a grease fire in the kitchen was the source of the flames.

Fire officials said most of the damage was limited to the kitchen area and that no injuries to residents or fire crews were reported.

Scott Pasley, public information officer for the Holts Summit Fire Protection District, said the rapid response and assistance from New Bloomfield firefighters helped prevent the fire from causing more damage.

"Fortunately, units arrived in time to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the home," Pasley said in news release from the fire protection district. "We would like to thank New Bloomfield fire for their assistance, and are thankful that all of the residents escaped the home without injury."
