Lady Owl duo named to all-AMC first team

William Woods senior Kacey Scharnhorst and sophomore Hannah Campbell capped off their respective campaigns by each picking up first-team all-American Midwest Conference honors.

Senior Sydnae Hatton and freshman Allison Waskow each received honorable mention nods.

A native of St. Peters, Scharnhorst - an honorable mention recipient last year - Scharnhorst drove in a team-high 44 runs in collecting her first all-AMC first-team bid. Scharnhorst batted .346, smacked two homers, eight triples, 11 doubles and scored 28 runs.

Campbell, a Russellville native, led the Lady Owls with 35 runs scored, while batting .327 with a pair of four doubles and two triples from the leadoff spot.

Hatton led William Woods with a .369 average to pick up all-conference accolades for the first time in her career. The Centralia native posted new career highs in hits (52), runs scored (25), RBIs (10), doubles (4), triples (1) and slugging percentage (.411).

Waskow, from Canton, Illinois, finished 12-12 with a team-leading 2.54 earned run average in her debut season. She struck out 129 batters in 160 innings of work.

The Lady Owls' (28-24) ended their season with an 8-4 loss to Park University in the AMC Tournament on April 30 in Columbia.
