South Callaway's Oberdiek sets meet mark at Festus

Lady Bulldogs senior Hannah Oberdiek broke the meet record in girls' long jump at the Festus Early Bird Invitational on Saturday.

Oberdiek - the defending Class 2 state champion in the event - notched a first-place leap of 17 feet, 2 1/4 inches.

Senior Sarah Jennings tied for fourth place in the high jump at 4-10 to account for South Callaway's other top-five result.

The Lady Bulldogs tallied 115 points, trailing Pacific on (125) to earn second place at the Hermann Bearcat Open last Thursday.

Oberdiek won the long jump with a first-place leap of 16-2, while Jennings earned first place in both the high jump (4-10) and the triple jump (31-8 3/4).

Freshman Adrian Mann won the girls' 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 41.75 seconds. Mann added a third place time in the 400 (1:06.5), while taking fourth in the 200 (:29.6).

Senior Kailey Brooks won the 300-meter hurdles in :56.52 and took fourth in the 100 in :14.14. Junior Taylor Nichols was the runner up in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in :18.58.

Freshman Elli Luebbert took fourth place in the 3,200 with a time of 14:42.87, while freshman Ashley Potter garnered fifth place in the 200 in :30.34.

South Callaway had two top-five finishes in the girls' 1,600-meter relay. Oberdiek teamed with juniors Dariyn Finney, Haley Pate and sophomore Josie Mealy to finish third in a time of 4:55.03.

Mann, junior Amy Worley, sophomore Caitlyn Chapman and freshman Greta Cross earned fifth in 5:07.91.

Chapman, Cross, Luebbert and Finney earned fourth in the 3,200 meter relay with a time of 12:06.78.

The Bulldogs totaled 54 points to take sixth place in the varsity boys' standings. Junior Ajay Cave (:12.13) and freshman Dalton Stone (:12.43) placed third and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meter dash.

Sophomore Bennett Hager placed third in the 300-meter hurdles in :48.37. Cave, Stone, junior Brandon Ward and senior Dylan Hare earned third in the 400-meter relay in a time of :48.02, while the foursome of Hager, junior Connor Stupperich, sophomore Harley Kight and freshman Landon Horstman finished fifth (:50.07).

Hare, Cave, Horstman and Stone ran the 1,600-meter relay in a fourth-place result of 4:00.79, while Kight, Hager, Stupperich and senior Phillip Norris took fifth in 4:10.95.

Ward placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 5-4, while Hare earned fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17-7. Hortsman (36-8 1/4) earned fifth in the triple jump.

South Callaway competed at Westran on Monday. Results were not available at press time.
