North Callaway commits six errors in five-inning loss to Blair Oaks

Six fielding errors plagued the Thunderbirds in a 13-1 five-inning loss to the Falcons in Monday's home opener.

The Falcons logged all their runs in the first four innings, tallying one in the top of the first, four in the second, five in the third and finishing with three in the fourth.

The T-Birds (1-1) managed just two hits. Freshman relief pitcher Justin Popp finished 1-for-1, while senior right fielder Zach McCowan was 1-for-2.

Junior Evan Aylward took the loss for North Callaway. Aylward (0-1) threw 2 2/3 inning, allowing nine runs (three earned) on six hits, walking two and striking out one.

North Callaway (0-2) dropped the junior varsity matchup 12-0.

The T-Birds open Eastern Missouri Conference play today against Van-Far. The game, originally scheduled to be played in Vandalia, will begin at 5 p.m. today in Auxvasse.
