William Woods University senior guard Blake French was an honorable-mention selection on the 2014-15 NAIA Division I All-American women's basketball team announced Wednesday.
French - a St. Charles native - enjoyed a career year with the Lady Owls, averaging 11.9 points while shooting 50 percent from the field, 33 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent at the free-throw line. A second-team all-American Midwest Conference choice, she completed her William Woods career with 1,069 points (8.4 average), 363 rebounds, 270 assists and 155 steals.
The Lady Owls ended the season with a 23-9 record after making their seventh straight appearance in the NAIA national tournament. William Woods bowed to fifth-ranked Bethel (Tennessee) University 62-61 in first-round play March 19 in Independence.
