Top-ranked William Woods finishes fourth in Florida

The No. 1-ranked William Woods University men's golf team made a late scramble up the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round to finish fourth at the Embry-Riddle Eagle Invitational.

William Woods - which was tied for eighth place after Monday's second round - accumulated a 27-over par 891 total (297-305-289). No. 3 Coastal Georgia captured the team title with a 3-over 867, while Johnson & Wales (Florida) took second with an 881.

No. 8 South Carolina Beaufort, compiling an 887, came in third in front of the Owls.

William Woods freshman Alasdair McDougall - playing as an individual - finished fourth with an even-par 216 (76-73-67).

Sophomore Billy McKenzie logged a 10th-place finish with a 4-over 220 (72-75-73) to guide the Owls' team total. Sophomore David Houlding (74-80-70) and senior Stan Gautier (77-75-72) shot a pair of 224s to share 21st place, while sophomore Matt Wells tied for 45th with a 230 (74-82-74).

William Woods plays March 23-24 at the Challenge at Dalhousie in Cape Girardeau.
