There's a lot of clapping, singing and imagining happening every Monday at the Callaway County Public Library for children 36 months and younger. While children are having fun, they are also learning.

The program goes from 10-10:30 a.m. every Monday at the library and is designed to promote early literacy skills in children 36 months and younger. Through song and motion, children are exposed to rhyming, given phonological awareness and build their vocabulary skills, said Callaway County Children's Librarian Jerilyn Hahn.

"They're really learning something," Hahn said. "But mostly we're just having fun."

Children between the ages of 24 months and 36 months can participate in the "Terrific Twos" program at the same time in a different room. On Tuesday at 10 a.m., children ages 3-5 can attend story time, which is followed by a craft that illustrates a chosen book's content.
