Federal firearms investigation leaves Callaway County

Authorities conducted federal firearms search in Millersburg last month, investigation is ongoing

A federal firearms investigation, which led to the search of a Millersburg home last month, has moved out of the mid-Missouri region. The investigation is still ongoing.

As the Fulton Sun previously reported, one person was detained in federal custody last month in connection with this investigation. The Callaway resident was detained on May 13 while authorities searched his or her home on the 3200 block of Route J in Millersburg.

John Ham, public information officer for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), told the Fulton Sun that while the Millersburg resident was detained during the search, the resident was not arrested and all property was turned back over to its rightful owner.

ATF, according to its website, is a law enforcement agency based in the U.S. Department of Justice which works to protect communities from violent crimes, illegal use and trafficking of firearms, illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products, terrorism and the illegal use and storage of explosives.
