South Callaway boys take fifth at Montgomery County JV tournament

Freshman guard Kaden Helsel logged a game-high 19 points in the top-seeded Bulldogs' 61-32 win over the No. 7 Thunderbirds in Saturday's fifth-place game of the Montgomery County Tournament.

South Callaway (11-4) jumped out fast, possessing a 29-7 lead after one quarter. The Bulldogs went into the break with a 38-16 advantage.

Freshman guard Dylan Leeper added nine points for South Callaway.

Freshman guard Alex Walker posted a team-high 16 points for North Callaway (3-15). Freshman forward Alex Popp added eight points.

The Thunderbirds play at Tipton at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Bulldogs host Missouri Military Academy at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
