JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A former branch manager of a central Missouri title company will serve two years and six months without parole for mortgage fraud and embezzlement.
Federal prosecutors say in a news release that 50-year-old Terry Lynn Johnson of Columbia was sentenced Wednesday for the $576,000 mortgage fraud and embezzlement scheme. She was also ordered to pay $405,653 in restitution.
Johnson was a branch manager for Landchoice Company in Fulton until she was fired in December 2008.
She pleaded guilty in July 2013 to bank fraud and money laundering. She admitted that she refinanced a mortgage on her home twice using false information to receive loans. She also admitted she embezzled $276,173 from Landchoice by diverting checks and escrow funds into a bank account the company didn't know existed.
