Ameren Missouri's ActOnEnergy BizSavers program awarded Capital Region Medical Center an incentive of more than $417,000. Capital Region earned the incentive after making "extensive energy-efficient improvements to the organization's buildings," according to a press release.
Martin Grabanski, director of facilities at capital region medical center, said the organization utilized Ameren Missouri's programs. The BizSavers program awards cash incentives to commercial and industrial business in an effort to make energy efficiency financially feasible, according to the release.
"By taking advantage of the many opportunities Ameren Missouri's program offers to us, we are able to run more efficient operations allowing Capital Region to allocate more resources to meeting the needs of our patients and our community," Grabanski said in the release. "We are also reducing our waste and running "greener' operations. It's great to have programs like these where everyone benefits."
The medical center installed efficient exterior and interior LEDs as well as lighting controls. It also made upgrades to the energy efficient variable refrigerant volume (VRC) HVAC system.
The release also stated that the medical center's improvements included a holistic building optimization program, retro-commissioning, which allows the buildings systems to work more efficiently together.
The changes Capital Region made will save the medical center about $350,000 annually on the cost of its electricity(based on today's rates). That is the equivalent of powering 315 Missouri homes for one year.
