New Bloomfield girls clip Linn for 11th straight win

Senior forward Taylor Howard supplied a game-high 18 points to help fuel the Lady Wildcats' 61-20 Show-Me Conference romp Monday night.

The decisive victory was the 11th straight for New Bloomfield (14-2, 4-0 SMC), which was coming off a 48-46 win over North Callaway on Saturday night in the championship of the South Callaway Invitational Tournament. The Lady Wildcats were up 14-4 after one quarter Monday night and bolted into halftime with a 38-14 advantage.

"You don't want to take anything for granted because sometimes you can have a letdown after a big game," New Bloomfield head coach Brett Craighead said. "The girls came out clicking, and that was good."

Freshman guard Madi Craighead tacked on 11 points for the Lady Wildcats, while senior forward Ashley Kelley contributed nine and senior center Zoe Welschmeyer had six.

Lauren Kaullen led Linn with six points.

New Bloomfield (6-0) - sparked by sophomore center Madison Love's 14 points - rolled to a 54-21 triumph in the junior varsity game. Sophomore guard Kate Baxter tallied 13 points, freshman guard Alexandra Morningstar finished with 12 and sophomore center Rylee Rackers scored 10.

The Lady Wildcats return home for an SMC showdown against the state-ranked Fatima Lady Comets at 6 tonight. Fatima is ranked No. 4 in Class 3.
