A driver allegedly fled from the Callaway County deputies and Holts Summit police officers Sunday, Jan. 18, according to a Callaway County Sheriff's Office press release.

The Sheriff's Office was assisting Holts Summit Police with a traffic stop of a maroon PT Cruiser on Karen Drive, near Northrup, in Holts Summit. The driver, Brian Jarvis, according to the press release, "took off at a high rate of speed and fled from the deputies."

Deputies followed the PT Cruiser southbound on South Summit Drive in Holts Summit to Highway 54. There, Jarvis made a u-turn and drove the wrong way on Highway 54 from Center Street to the State Road AE/State Road TT exit in New Bloomfield. According to the press release, the chase reached speeds of more than 100 MPH.

The deputies' pursuit continued to County Road 371, then to State Road MM, to County Road 388 and finally to County Road 398. Deputies took Jarvis, 35 of Holts Summit, into custody on County Road 388. According to the release, deputies allegedly found Jarvis to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies interviewed a passenger in the vehicle and later released them. Jarvis was taken to the Callaway County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond. As of Sunday night, he remained in custody.

This is the third time the Sheriff's Office has pursued Jarvis in a vehicle, according to the release. The release also stated that according to public records, Jarvis has been involved in vehicle pursuits in other Missouri counties and "has numerous convictions for resisting arrest." Jarvis is on supervised probation for endangering the welfare of a charge first and felony resisting arrest.
