The No. 6 seed Lady Bulldogs claimed fifth place in their own South Callaway Invitational Tournament, establishing control by outscoring the No. 8 Lady Indians 26-16 in the second half of Friday night's 44-28 win.
South Callaway (9-4) went into halftime with an 18-12 advantage, then outscored Russellville 14-8 in the third quarter to increase its lead to 32-20. The Lady Bulldogs sealed the victory by outscoring the Lady Indians 12-8 in the fourth quarter.
"We stepped up our defense (in the second half) and forced turnovers," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said.
Sophomore forward Konnor Arrowood topped the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points and freshman guard Adrian Mann provided 11.
Justice Miller paced Russellville with a game-high 14 points, followed by Haley Windsor with 11.
South Callaway hosts a non-conference matchup against Iberia at 6 p.m. Monday.
