Westminster College Blue Jays junior outfielder-pitcher Deion Hughes has been selected to the 2015 D3baseball.com preseason All-America team, earning honorable-mention status as a utility player.
Hughes (Jefferson City/Helias) was the first Westminster player in the program's history to be named to the ABCA All-American team as a second-team pick last year. He was also a first-team choice on the all-Central Region and all-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams.
Hughes hit .361 in the 2014 season with a .434 on-base percentage, 26 runs batted in and a home run as the Blue Jays finished with a 21-14 record. On the mound, he went 8-1 in nine starts with a 1.94 earned-run average and 79 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings.
