Lady Bulldogs to play for fifth place at South Callaway

MOKANE - Freshman point guard Adrian Mann tallied a game-high 15 points, steering the No. 6 seed South Callaway Lady Bulldogs to a 46-28 consolation semifinal win over the No. 7 Montgomery County Lady Wildcats on Wednesday night at the South Callaway Invitational Tournament.

South Callaway (8-4) got out to a fast start, building a 16-3 lead after one quarter. Montgomery County responded with a 10-4 edge in the second quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs still took a 20-13 advantage into the break.

"We came out strong," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "I think our defense worked well, but offensively, we rotated the ball really, really well."

Sophomore guard Nicole Horstman also logged 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs, while sophomore center Konnor Arrowood added 10.

"(We) came up with some big-time shots and hit our free throws, which will make a difference in ballgames," Humphrey said.

Senior guard Hope Eoff paced Montgomery County with 13 points.

The Lady Bulldogs plays No. 8 seed Russellville for fifth place at 6 tonight at the high school. The Lady Indians blew past No. 5 seed New Haven 43-24 on Wednesday night.
