Lady Blue Jays blast SLIAC foe Eureka for fourth straight win

Productive efforts from their entire starting five helped the Westminster College Lady Blue Jays continue their recent run of success.

Junior point guard Mackenzie Haddox's triple-double and sophomore forward Andrea Zalis' scintillating shooting performance keyed the Lady Blue Jays' 75-41 SLIAC rout of the Eureka College Red Devils on Saturday at Westminster Gymnasium.

After dropping four of their first six, Westminster (6-4, 5-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) has won four straight.

Haddox tallied 12 points, while logging game highs of 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Zalis led all players with 31 points on 11-of-13 field goals and 7-of-9 3-pointers.

Junior point guard Kasey Gatson scored 10 points, while sophomore forward Krista Armontrout finished with six points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Blue Jays grabbed firm control of the game thanks to a 12-3 run over the final 3 minutes, 31 seconds of the half. Gatson's triple with :15 remaining allowed Westminster to carry a 40-26 advantage at the break.

Eureka (6-6, 3-2 SLIAC) registered just 15 second-half points and finished the game shooting just 22 percent from the field (15-of-68) and 23 percent (8-of-35) from 3-point distance.

Emily Camden and Luci Weis tallied 12 points each to lead the Red Devils. Kelsey Shoemake logged six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
