Lady Bulldogs rip Russellville, win fifth straight

RUSSELLVILLE - Three players scored in double figures and the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs moved their winning streak to five games with Thursday night's 58-32 Show-Me Conference rout of the Russellville Lady Indians.

South Callaway (7-2, 4-1 SMC) built a 14-9 lead after one quarter and outscored Russellville 20-10 in the second quarter to take a 34-19 edge into the break. The Lady Bulldogs followed up by outscoring the Lady Indians 13-6 in the third quarter to go up 47-25.

Junior guard Kennedy Baker and sophomore forward Konnor Arrowood logged 12 points apiece to direct South Callaway. Senior guard Sarah Jennings chipped in with 10 points.

"The girls found ways to get some open looks and we shot the ball relatively well," Lady Bulldogs head coach Darren Humphrey said. "Defensively, we put a lot of pressure on Russellville and caused a lot of confusion."

South Callaway - receiving a career-high 22 points from freshman guard Ashley Potter - triumphed in the junior varsity game 36-26.

South Callaway played at North Callaway in a non-conference encounter late Saturday afternoon. Results were not available at press time.

The Lady Bulldogs earned the sixth seed in their own South Callaway Invitational Tournament and will meet No. 3 Hermann in the first round at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
